The Guardians, the primary military force of the Mantis race were established during the first age of the Quintástraya during the Kelkemek wars.  Formerly ineffective early in the wars, they were ultimately ordained as the protectors of the inhabitants of the Quintástraya.   The Kadashah (The Holy Book of the Prophets written in the first age) was used to establish the Guardians as one cohesive effective force.  These vanguards against the forces of darkness are charged to uphold the tenets, and laws of the Kadashah within the dominions of the twelve Houses of Mantis. 

The Mantis Guardians dwell in vast city fortresses called Guardian Citadels located throughout the Quintástraya.  Within these complexes, the very young learn the way of the Mantis as disciples called Novodene.  They learn discipline and spiritual truth and must successfully complete all levels of training before obtaining the rank of Guardian.  After attaining the rank of Guardian, those who have the potential of combining their spiritual and physical abilities are chosen to train as prophet warriors called Mantuzan's.

Ceremoniously called the Guardians of Light, but often referred to as Guardians, or Mantis Guardians, they are greatly respected, not only because of their combat skills, but out of reverence for their selfless acts of sacrifice and great service for GOD.

As a Mantis Force guardian, I will faithfully serve and uphold the laws, the tenets, and the way of the Mantis. In combat, I shall conduct myself to the highest standards as a Guardian of Light. I shall guard my brother's life as my own. My faith and hope are in GOD alone.
